Schermer Mills

In 1633 work began on draining the Schermer Lake. The reclamation of this large lake required as many as 52 mills, 17 of which have been beautifully preserved. A beautiful place where some of these mills can be visited is Schermerhorn. Here you will find three beautiful mills. One of the three mills has been converted into a Museum Mill. Here you can learn all about the reclamation of the Schermeer and living and working in a polder mill. How unique is that?
